Place Darcy
Jardins Darcy
The Darcy garden is the first public garden created in Dijon. On this site, Henri Darcy, an engineer from Dijon, designed a reservoir to supply Dijon with drinking water in 1838. To crown this work, the architect Emile Sagot created a monument in the neo-renaissance style, a work that is still present today. In 1880, a garden was created on this reservoir by the architect Félix Vionnois according to the tastes of the time. It is a haven of rest very frequented by the Dijonese and the numerous tourists of passage. The bear that welcomes you at the entrance is a copy by the sculptor Henri Martinet (1937) in homage to the Burgundian sculptor François Pompon, a native of Saulieu.
