Porteuse d'eau

Sculpture by Louis Patriarche (born in Bastia in 1872, died in Nîmes in 1955), commissioned by the commune in January 1931, and installed on this square on June 26 of the same year.

It depicts a Corsican woman, wearing the traditional black headscarf and carrying a wooden container for carrying water. This work has stood the test of time and remains a vibrant tribute to the courage and dignity of Corsican women.
