Avenue du Collège
In 1992, an event marked the history of the Wallers-Arenberg mining basin: the shooting of Claude Berri's film Germinal (adapted from the novel by Emile Zola). This site is now converted into studios and audiovisual facilities.to leave a trace of this exceptional collaboration between director, actors and many local extras who participated in this project rich in motion, the Association des Amis Réunis (composed of Claude Berri, Gérard Depardieu, Renaud, Miou-Miou, Jean-Pierre Coffe, among others) created the Brasserie des Amis Réunis in 1996 with the help of the European Union. Its first production is a beer named Germinal. If since then there have been changes in ownership, the pioneering and creative spirit is still present. in 2011, a new beer was launched, the Bellerose, followed by the Vieux-Lille, the Estaminet, the Abbatiale and the P’tit Quinquin lemonade. The Sources brewery is the most awarded brewery in France (2022).
The brewing equipment, originally purchased by the Association des Amis Réunis », is installed in the building of the former slaughterhouses of Saint-Amand-les-Eaux.
