Porte Guillaume
The Arc de Triomphe of Dijon, known as Porte Guillaume, was built by the architect Jean-Philippe Maret in 1788 on the bases of an old door of the 12th century city wall, in homage to the prince of Condé, governor of Burgundy. Renamed Porte de la Liberté during the Revolution, it became Porte Guillaume during the Restoration, in reference to Guillaume de Volpiano, abbot of the Abbey of Saint-Bénigne.
