Toussaint PIERUCCI - Magistrate
Toussaint Pierucci was born and raised in Corte. He learned to read at the age of 12 and became the youngest magistrate in France despite this. He had a brilliant and exemplary career as a magistrate, marked in particular by two important events. after the liberation of 1945, Judge Pierucci presided over a court in charge of judging the collaborators. He refused to sign the death sentence of a young man who, although he was a collaborator, had no blood on his hands. He was disbarred and became a lawyer. He was also mayor of Corte twice between 1955 and 1963. He was played by Michel Galabru in the film "Section Spé" by Costa Gavras released in 1975, in which he was renamed Jean Cournet. In 2016, his graduating class at the Ecole Nationale de la Magistrature also bore his name.
