Le Cellier de Talant
Le Cellier de Talant
A wine cellar is a cellar that is generally used to store food and wine. In Talant the cellar is located on the hill of Talant, behind the church on the plateau of the Cour du Roy.
Eudes III, Duke of Burgundy had a castle built in Talant in the 13th century. Henri IV had it demolished in 1598. The cellar will be used as a warehouse to store the castle's waste. It will be covered several times, but always in times of war. It will be left as is. It was finally renovated in 1967. Nowadays, the Cellar is used for family events or for special events organized by the City of Talant. Its ceiling height is 4.40 m and its length is 15 m x 5.80 m.
It has been restored but the vaults are still fragile and continue to move. We know this thanks to the sensors placed on the walls. But for the moment, the sails do not move anymore
