Montée de la Bourgade
Impasse de l'Aire
As in many villages, the threshing floor was a space reserved for threshing cereals, wheat in general, with the help of a tool, the flail, made up of a handle and a wooden beater connected by belts. This small, stepped street, whose charm and intimacy go hand in hand with a history full of memories. The proximity on the eastern slope of the old village of land that was once cultivated, allows us to think that this area of only a few square meters had its time of animation, now gone. But this "aire" has a story told by the old inhabitants of Cagnac who learned from their elders that in a year of exceptional production, it was so crowded that it was necessary to go to another place to thresh the barley. The transport was done at night and a brave farmer who had not been informed believed in a miracle when he saw the next day, his "area" copiously filled. He was particularly disappointed when he learned the truth, he got angry and set fire to the cereals to chase away the demon. These anecdotes are not isolated in Provence where the fires of the demon have often intrigued pagans and believers.
