L’école Jules FERRY de Moulin de Redon

Lécole Jules FERRY de Moulin de Redon was born in 1881, almost a century and a half ago. It was exactly on November 20, 1881, as if the father of the great school laws of the Third Republic had wanted to leave his name as a legacy. In fact, it was a municipal deputy, spokesman for the hamlet's inhabitants, who helped create the school.let's listen to the statement by Pierre MATHIEU, mayor of Auriol: on the request made by Mr Jean-Baptiste EMERIC, deputy mayor, presenting him with a list of 38 boys and girls from the hamlet of Moulin de Redon who could attend the schools and do not, due to the distance of 5 kilometers from the school;tres qui sépare le hameau d’Auriol, principalement pendant la saison d’hiver, LE CONSEIL MUNICIPAL demande à l’autorité supérieure de creéer une école mixte sous la direction d’une institutrice au dit hameau ». The application was accepted, and the authorization granted. Construction of the Moulin de Redon co-educational school was completed on September 30, 1889, by François BLANC, a Saint-Zacharie contractor, to the plans of Godefroy GLEIZE, a departmental architect.in 1977, the school was renovated with the creation of a second class and a canteen. In 1985, the one-class school was almost abolished. The Inspection Acadacute;mique deemed its existence anachronistic. In order to maintain the hamlet's cohesion and full development, it took all the strength of conviction of the Auriol town council to obtain the abandonment of this unjust measure.
On November 30, 2002, the new Jules Ferry nursery school was inaugurated.
Today, the Moulin-de-Redon school group boasts 216 pupils.
In 2031, Auriol will celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of its little school, which has grown and prospered ever since.
