Avenida Paseo de la Reforma

The Ángel de la Independencia is a 36-meter column, whose upper statue weighs 7 tons and is 6.7 meters high. It is made of bronze covered with gold leaf. The whole measures 45 meters, including the base. It was inaugurated on September 16, 1910 by President Porfirio Díaz to commemorate the centennial of the independence of México. In 1925 it was transformed into a mausoleum; at its base lie the remains of the heroes of Mexican independence
