Famille Glandevès

Famille Glandevès

The de Glandevès family is one of Provence's oldest and most prestigious noble families. Of medieval origin, it takes its name from the château de Glandevès, near Entrevaux, and long served the county of Provence and the crown of France. Settling in Cuges-les-Pins in the XVIᵉ century, the family became seigneur of the village. Under François de Glandevès, married to Diane de Forbin de Janson, the château de Cuges became the center of local seigneurial power.

The Glandevès administered the territory, developed agriculture and participated in regional political and military life until the French Revolution, which put an end to the seigneury. Their influence left a lasting mark on the village's history: we owe them part of its built heritage and rural organization. Even today, their name remains associated with the memory of Cuges and its noble, Provencal past.
