Once squalid and gloomy, but filled with a strong spirit of solidarity, rue du Wacq was in the 19th century a place of misery where large families and the Hôpital des Pauvres cohabited. This street downhill was formerly called the street of the mill of the city, this one was located below on the current of the Mérette.
The street of Wacute;s, now opens on a park and has acquired a cultural and tourist image dedicated to the art craft. Since 2008, it has been home to several workshops and artists' residences. Some are open to the public on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 am to 6:30 pm.
