Rue Sainte-Croix
Chapelle Sainte Croix
The Sainte Croix chapel is located at the top of a rocky bar and has watched over the town of Auriol since the 16th century. On June 24, 1554 a sale of four loads of wheat for its construction took place. Two years later, on September 17, 1557, Jean-Baptiste Tremellat gave all his property with the option of selling it for the construction of the chapel. The chapel was completed on April 23, 1559 and underwent several restorations, notably after the Revolution. From 1563 onwards, 14 oratories were built along the path leading to the chapel. The Holy Cross Chapel is open every first Sunday of each month from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
