Rue Gandelot

Antoine GANDELOT - Religious

1714 - 1785

Son of a royal notary and judge from Arne, Antoine Gandelot was born on October 22, 1714. Vicar of Saint-Pierre, director of the ursulines and chaplain of the hospice of Charity of Beaune, he died in this city on April 2, 1785. He is still known for his Histoire de Beaune et de ses antiquités, published in 1772, even if Abbé Bredeault, who published the Supplement, regrets its disorder and its heaviness. He had an important library, part of which was saved a short time ago.
