Their story.
Pierre Puget was a French sculptor, draughtsman, painter and architect of the 17th century, born in Marseille in 1620. He worked in Rome with Pietro da Cortona and then returned to Marseille in 1643 where he received several commissions, notably for the cathedral of the city. After a stay in Genoa, he became director of construction at the arsenal of Toulon. He is nicknamed the Michelangelo of France. He is one of the representatives of the French classical spirit of the Great Century in sculpture, as was Nicolas Poussin for painting. He is one of the introducers of Baroque Art in France, well illustrated by his architectural achievements. Both artist and craftsman, he can be considered an example of a complete creator, whose talent transcends techniques.
