Montée des Moulins
Le Rocher des Doms
The garden built at the end of the 19th century and designed by the Parisian gardener Jean Pierre Barillet-Deschamps is a haven of greenery and coolness in summer. The waters gush around the Venus with swallows camped on a rock emerging from the lake. Concealing one of the city's old reservoirs, a rockery and an artificial grotto covered with moss and aquatic vegetation are bathed by a curtain of droplets falling in rain. In winter, the mistral wind takes over and the Venus shivers under the ice stalactites. Who can imagine, when he is on the immense panoramic terrace, that he is walking on the water reservoir built in 1972 and supplying a large part of the city? Its next restoration will give back to the garden its patrimonial grandeur and will emphasize the ecological issues by creating an island of freshness.
