Vincent BOSANO - Military

1846 - 1870

Vincent Bosano, born on January 22, 1846, officer of the Vosges Army who participated brilliantly and courageously in the war of 1870. His conduct earned him the Military Medal. He was killed in action. The presence of the Bosano family (which would come from Voltri, on the Genoa Riviera) is attested since 1560 in Menton according to Ardoïno. We know that Augustin Bozan died on October 7, 1571 at the Battle of Lepanto on the galley of the prince. Later we find four notaries: Horace, his son François, his two grandsons Josephat and Leandre. The son of the latter, Alfred, aide-de-camp to Admiral Persano, died at the naval battle of LISSA (Yugoslavia) between the Austrians and the Piedmontese in 1866.
