Louis PASTEUR - Scientist

1822 - 1895

Louis Pasteur was a French scientist of the XIXth century, a physicist and chemist by training, who became famous throughout the world for having first applied the concept of vaccination to man by saving Joseph Meister, a young Alsatian, who had been bitten by a rabid dog. The child did not contract the disease. For all that, his life was rich in other discoveries, such as pasteurization, a technique for preserving food, contributing to make him one of the greatest scientists in history.
