Rue Pupin
Claude PUPIN - Industrialist
Near the site of the hospital, we find in the 16th century the domain of Claude Pupin, Maistre des Eaues et forestz de la montaigne de Rheims et d'Esparnay. Today, he gives his name to the rue Pupin, along the Hôtel de Ville. The current Moët & Chandon Orangery is built on this former property. The road was later named "faubourg de la Folie" or "rue de la Folie". For some, this name comes from the madmen welcomed at the hospital; however, it is more likely that this qualifier comes from the home of Claude Pupin, considered at the time as "a madness".
