Their story.

Prosper Grésy was a civil servant in the administration of the Domains. He began his career in the Pas-de-Calais, then was appointed to Arles, then to the Vaucluse, to end his career as director in Marseille. At the same time, he practiced the art of painting and met Augustin Aubert, Émile Loubon, Félix Ziem, Dominique Papety and Adolphe Monticelli. He encouraged Paul Guigou in his beginnings. He exhibited for the first time in Marseille in 1836. A disciple of Jules Dupré, he took up the motifs of the Barbizon school, such as Les Baigneuses (Musée des Beaux-Arts de Marseille), which would later inspire Paul Cézanne.
