CUTTING AND ENGRAVING
QRPlaques are made to precise, rigorous specifications to guarantee the quality of the finished product and its long-term durability. QRPlaques measure 100x100 mm. They are cut by stamping to ensure smooth, non-sharp edges.
The material used is SUS304 stainless steel, commonly used in the food and medical sectors. It contains 18% chromium and 8% nickel. It offers good mechanical and thermal resistance in high and low temperature environments, as well as good corrosion resistance, weldability, cold workability and other mechanical properties in a mild atmosphere.
QRPlaques are engraved by spraying acid, which etches the metal on the areas not protected by a previously applied screen-printing ink. The duration of this phase determines the depth of the engraving (~0.1 mm). Once engraved, the protective ink is cleaned off, revealing the entire engraved metal surface. Finally, the engraved background of the QRPlaque is coloured with a highly resistant epoxy-type paint. A layer of black paint is applied to optimise the reading of the information engraved on the QRPlaques.
The QRPlaques are then scanned and their manufacturing quality validated. They are then packed in recycled paper before shipping.
Durability
Corrosion tests
To deliver a durable, high-quality product, we regularly test our QRPlaques. They must withstand a hydrochloric acid bath for 15 min and high-pressure cleaning for 5 min at 160 bar. These tests simulate 15 years of outdoor life.
